I'm thinking we could sell it in international waters, as well as buy drinks before '12 noon.

Hmm, i wonder. If you get profits from selling FANARTs that you make. Is it right or it is wrong?

in my opinion it shouldn't. it should just stay a "tribute" to the series. the only way it should be sold is if the original creators of the series get royalties lol :D idk. i just think it wrong to sell something that isn't completely yours

Whether or not the art itself is done by a seperate individual the characters belong to someone else, so you should not sell fanart without the express consent of the character's creator/s

I'm studying law and I assure you that no one can sell fanart or commissions with someone else's character, it's a copyright violation.

Its wrong, though the piece of work belongs to you the character and its design are copyrighted to the original maker. FanArt is non-profitable and if a profit is made there could be serious repercussions.

unless you have permission from the creator/s of the said character, it should not be sold, since you are reaping in money in from characters that you did not create. That's why i'm not too fond of people selling their fan-created stuff at cons (especially if the work is mass produced).

however, there are exceptions. if works were commissioned and the dealing were only between you and the commisioner, i think it's ok.

I know that internationally there aren't any laws saying you can't, except for in the United States. But morally speaking I always thought that selling fanart seemed a bit unfair after all the characters don't belong to you and it takes away from the lively hood of the person who created it.

Technically, one is allowed to print and sell ten copies of a fanart legally. But any more copies than that, and it's considered a copyright violation.
