Coloring character TUTORIAL by norli Coloring character TUTORIAL by norli
Finally, a coloring tutorial from me. This one is specific for Adobe photoshop 7 and above users. Feel free to ask question by sending me a note if there parts you don't understand.I know there are other better ways to color using a mouse but you guys asked how i did it so here is the step by step tutorial.

Please check out the preparing line art tutorial first before reading this since i don't want to repeat what i have taught there.

PREPARING LINE ART tutorial is ------> [link]

If you want to see the final product, it is here ------>[link]

There will be another tutorial on finishes such as background, and ways to color details such as jewelleries and clouds.

How do you make your line art so smooth? That's the one thing I have the most trouble with.
WaterLillyHearts Featured By Owner May 31, 2013  Hobbyist General Artist
This is a fantastic tutorial. I have always had issues coloring. I sit here and practice like crazy, trying to find something comfortable, and I think this will help me a lot. I too use a mouse for my work, my tablet broke a few years ago and it has become more comfortable for me to do my computer work with a mouse. Thank you very much for this, it is incredibly detailed and doesn't skip the little things, with nice little pictures to help.

thank you for the tutorial

btw, I always wondering how to set my brush like yours, in pict, your brush has a sharp front and end, mine is always just a simple round brush  so its hard to make a sharp ending.
DemoiselleGothique Featured By Owner Jun 7, 2012  Student General Artist
It's called pen pressure :3
Gitchgitch Featured By Owner Jun 7, 2012  Hobbyist Interface Designer
is pen pressure only available when we use wacom (tablet) or is it also available with mouse?
DemoiselleGothique Featured By Owner Jun 11, 2012  Student General Artist
I believe so.

Nisshoku-art Featured By Owner Apr 27, 2008  Student Traditional Artist
Is there a way you can do this Open Canvas? That's all I have and I was trying to follow, but once you got to masks, you lost me ~_~. Amazing tutorial, by the way.

Lokine Featured By Owner Feb 3, 2008
Thank you for the tutorial ^_^
It helped me a lot, really, even though I still have a long way to go...

But now I'm quite stuck (and it sucks >.<';) because the quick mask isn't working anymore. (it's gray instead of being green and it doesn't select anythin' anymore u_u';)
What happened to my photoshop? T__T
